James Lacour 1922-2006
PASADENA, Calif. — James Lacour, 84, of Pasadena, Calif. and formerly of Charles City, passed away Aug. 12, 2006.
He was born on April 18, 1922, in Ulster Township of Floyd County, the son of Edward and Anna (Noss) Lacour. He graduated from the Charles City High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
On June 20, 1945, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Beckwith. They moved to Albuquerque, N.M., and later to Pasadena, where James continued his teaching career.
He was a professor of English at the Ambassador College.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Lloyd; and a sister, Dorothy L. Hirsch.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Pasadena; a sister and brother-in-law, Lois and De Von Thorsen of Charles City; three nieces, Dr. Norma Hirsch, Barbara (Lacour) Means, Shirley (Lacour) Richtsmeier; and three nephews, Larry Hirsch, Richard Lacour and Dennis Thorsen.
