MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Funeral services for Ashbury J. Ackley, 93, were held Monday at the Marble Rock Methodist Church. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.

Surviving are a son, Russell S., Marble Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Winifred) Pringle, Mason City; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Nellie Brunner, Nora Springs.

His wife, the former Sophia Buchholz, died in 1944.

NOTES:
The obituary above is in error about his age. It says he was 93 but they must have been rounding it off because he had 20 days to go before he turned 93.

Rites Held for Ashbury Ackley

Ashbury James Ackley, the son of Russell J. and Maria Baltimore Ackley, was born April 23, 1872, at Marble Rock, and passed away April 3rd at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

He was married to Sophia Christine Buchholz September 6, 1911, in the Methodist Church at Westport, Minnesota. Mrs. Ackley passed away on January 2, 1944.

They were the parents of two children, Russell D. of Marble Rock and Mrs. Lyle (Winifred) Pringle of Mason City.

Survivors include his son and daughter, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Nellie Brunner, of Nora Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Those preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; four sisters: Stella, Belle, Bertha, and Irene; and one brother, Harry.

Mr. Ackley, a life long resident of Marble Rock, was a member of the Methodist Church and had served on the Official Board. His active years were spent in local business. He was manager of the Marble Rock Farmers' Elevator for twenty five years and was a member of the Marble Rock school board for several years.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 5, in the Methodist Church with Reverend Baker officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock.
