Marge was born on August 11, 1932, the daughter of Gilbert and Christine Henkes Meyer at the home farm in Giard, Iowa. She was the youngest of three children. Her oldest brother, William G., died in 1989, of cancer. Her other brother, Eugene, and his wife, Maxine, live in Ft. Atkinson, Wis. Marge attended Giard School No. 6 and graduated from Monona High School in 1950. She spent one year at Iowa State University. While growing up, she was active in 4-H, MYF, Rainbow Girls, and many music activities. She was also active in various community activities.

She was united in marriage to Don Yount on November 18, 1951, in McGregor, Iowa. At the time, Don was with the highway patrol. They lived in Farley for a short time and then Cedar Rapids until Don was drafted into the Army.

While in Cedar Rapids, Marge was employed at Collins Radio Company. Upon Don's induction into the Army, she moved to live with her father, Gilbert, and worked for him in the First State Savings Bank in McGregor. After Don's discharge from the Army, they moved to Decorah, where Don finished his college education.

Blooming Prairie, Minn., became their next home when Don received his first teaching position. Following one year in Blooming Prairie, they moved to Nora Springs in August of 1959, which became their permanent home. Don passed away on May 25, 2002.

Marge was a 4-H leader for 11 years, drove a Nora Springs-Rock Falls school bus for eight years, and was active in the United Methodist Church in Nora Springs, where she was a choir member, choir director and church organist for nine years. She was also an MYF counselor and taught private piano lessons to many students for 12 years. She filled in as a substitute organist at the church in past years and has served on various church committees. She spent many faithful years as the Memorial Committee Chairperson. Marge also spent many years accompanying music students at Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School.

Marge loved the outdoors and fresh air, but music was her passion. She loved to travel in their motor home with Don until their health began to fail. She loved spending time with her daughters, Chris and Patty, and her grandchildren. She also kept very active attending the sports, church and music events of her children and grandchildren, who will miss her very much.

Marge is survived by two daughters, Christie Ann Haacke and her husband, Warren, of Riceville, and Patty Lynn Yount, of Mason City; two grandchildren, Elisa and Adam Haacke, of Riceville; two step-grandchildren, Michelle Berentsen and her husband, Kent, and daughter, Paige, of Riceville, and Ryan Haacke and his fiancee, Michelle Bauer, of Des Moines; two step-great-grandchildren, Brittany and Amanda Eggerichs, of Riceville; one brother, Eugene Meyer, and his wife, Maxine, of Ft. Atkinson, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Helen Meyer of Monona, Iowa; and a very special aunt, Eleanor Koether, of McGregor. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
