NORA SPRINGS — Roberta J. Norby, 76, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday (Oct. 4, 2005) at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Roberta Jean Norby, 77, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday (Oct. 4, 2005) at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, 202 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.

Roberta Jean Norby was born on October 1, 1928, in rural Rudd, Iowa, the daughter of Hazael M. and Chloe (Nelson) Ethington. Roberta graduated from Charles City High School and also attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She was united in marriage to Harold Norby on September 14, 1947, in Bethany, Missouri.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Harold Norby of Nora Springs; her children, Linda (Ed) Hoover of Iowa City, Debra (Duane) O'Banion of Nora Springs and Robin Wagner of Mason City; five grandchildren: Jessica (Patrick) Flannery of Iowa City, Emily O'Banion of Chicago, Ill., Sarah O'Banion of Eagan, Minn., Matthew O'Banion of Portland, Ore., and Rachell Wagner of Mason City; four great-grandchildren: Devon Wagner and Cory, Liam and Elleigh Flannery; a sister-in-law, Marvelle Ethington Squier of Rudd; many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gayle and Eldon Ethington; two infant brothers, Keith and Kenneth Ethington; sisters, Shirley Page, and Eileene Muller; and a son- in-law, Larry Streb.
