FUNERAL FOR SYDNEY GRANDY CONDUCTED IN NORA SPRINGS CHURCH
Nora Springe – Funeral services for Sydney P. Grandy were held Thursday afternoon at the Church of Christ conducted by the Rev. C. D. James, Mrs. Sturgis Morphew and Maxine sang with Mrs. Fred Clark as accompanist. Burial was in Rock Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Gandy was born at Castalia, Winneshiek County, May 7, 1860, and died at his home in Nora Springs, December 21, 1936, after an illness of heart disease.
At 14 he moved with his parents to Sheffield where they lived two years on a farm, then moving to Rock Grove near Nora Springs. He attended school and worked with his father on the farm until he was 21. Then he came to Nora Springs and learned the carpenter trade and was an expert cabinet maker. He was married to Alvira M. Hulburt August 24, 1889.
He is survived by two sons, William L of Nora Springs who cared for his father; Clyde E. of Santa Monica, California; one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Rice of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; and Mrs. Carrie Bell of Canby, Minnesota; and one grandson.
Mr. Grandy was a member of the Church of Christ here for 40 years and of the I.O.O.F, for 50 years.
