Ardis DeLene (Guenther) Kettleson, 71, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2011 at Lund Hospice Home in Arizona, surrounded by family.

Ardis was born on February 18, 1940, in LaMoure, North Dakota, the daughter of Frederick and Holly Guenther. She graduated from LaMoure High School in 1958 and then attended Valley City State College, where she received her teaching certificate.

Ardis married Gordon Kettleson on December 27, 1966. Gordon and Ardis moved to Charles City in 1968 and were employed as teachers before retiring in 2002. Ardis will be remembered for her grace and beauty, as well as her teaching style and her influence on many students. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, writing, watching her granddaughter, shopping and getting her hair and nails done, among many other things.

Ardis is survived by her husband; a daughter DeLene Kettleson; a son Erik (Jessica) Kettleson; a granddaughter, Aya; a brother, Harley (LaVonne) Guenther; and a sister, Delores “Karen” (Larry) Timm.

Ardis was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be on June 24, from 6-8 p.m., and funeral services will be on June 25, at 10 a.m. Both will be held at the First Congregational Church in Charles City.
