Margaret was born on November 8, 1918, one of seven children to Glen and Eva Mae "Adams" Whiten at Hill City, S.D. She attended school there and worked with the family on their farm.

In the mid '40s she moved to Rockford where she met her husband, Fred Baehne. They were united in marriage on March 15, 1949, at Lyle, Minn. While living in Rockford she worked as a nurse's aide at the Rockford Convalescent Home and after it closed she was employed at Nora Springs Care Center.

Her love of cooking landed her a job at "Jim's Café" in Rockford and then returned for a short time as a cook for the Nora Springs Care Center. She enjoyed working and helping people.

Margaret was a successful vegetable and flower gardener, doing latchhook, embroidering, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends, especially going downtown for coffee. Her biggest joy was her great grandson, Cody. She also played "500" and played marbles with the kids. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, watching Westerns and "The Price is Right" on TV.
