NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - On Sunday, May 15, 2011, Carol Parcher, 96, entered eternal rest at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs.

A funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St. N.W. in Rockford, on Thursday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Judy Wooten officiating. A visitation will be held at Fullerton Funeral Home, 302 W. Main Ave. in Rockford today, Wednesday, May 18 from 5-7 p.m., and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Carol will be cremated following the funeral service and burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

For those desiring, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Carol Parcher Memorial Fund in care of the family. Stories, thoughts and condolences may be shared with the family on the funeral home website at www.Fullertonfh.com.

Carol Winnifred Woelfer was born on October 28, 1914, in rural Rockford, Iowa, the eldest daughter of Erwin and Nellie (Smith) Woelfer.

She received her education in the Rockford area and graduated from Rockford High School in 1932. She taught two years in rural schools. She was united in marriage to Wayne Parcher on June 12, 1935. They farmed for five years in the Greene, Iowa, area before purchasing a farm southwest of Rockford. In 1971 they moved into Rockford. Wayne passed away on Jan. 31, 1995. Carol continued living in Rockford until November 2009 when she moved into the Nora Springs Care Center.

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Rockford. Carol was a member of Eastern Star, Esser Ladies Aid, the Rockford Women's Club and the "Sisters Club." She loved the farm life and especially liked to take care of her chickens and tend the garden. She liked to knit and was an avid reader. Carol and Wayne enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states plus a trip to Europe.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dennis (Kathy Mullen) of Rockford, Morris (Leona) of Rockford, Dick (Cheryl) of Elkhorn, Neb., and Jill (Gene) Schlueter of Willmar, Minn.; sister, Betty Schwarck of Charles City; brother-in-law, Donald Parcher of Rockford; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; sisters, Roberta Inman and June Lokenvitz; and a great-great-granddaughter Elora Grace Parcher.
