Lloyd was born on the family farm May 3, 1910, one of nine children to Julius and Alvina (Hillmer) Krumrey. He attended school at Colwell High School. He was very proud that he lived his entire life on the same farm and had the dirt in his blood.

On May 26, 1934, he was united in marriage to Ruth Raymond at the Lutheran parsonage at Elkader. To this union was born two children.

He was a former deacon at the United Church of Christ where he and his wife were members. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and lifetime member of Colwell Senior Citizens. Lloyd served on the Colwell School Board for six years.

He belonged to the Iowa Trappers Association and the NRA. Trapping was a very important part of his life and something that he loved to share with his children. He also enjoyed taking fishing trips to Red Lake and Gull Rock in Ontario and Lake of the Woods and Kabetogama, in Northern Minnesota. He was an avid deer hunter, and in the early years he would hunt and fish near Lansing on the Mississippi and take a trip to Montana. He was known to be a great long-distance shooter.

When farming did not fill his hours, he could be found tinkering with machinery and helping all who asked. He was very adept at gardening.

Those thankful in sharing Lloyd's life include his wife of 67 years, Ruth, Charles City; his "buddies," daughter Jean and her husband, Richard Lines, Nashua, and his son, Darwin and his wife, Nancy Jo Krumrey, Bella Vista, Ark; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Jacque Krumrey; and one great-grandson, Cole Krumrey Still.
