ZORA ALICE (KEEFER) PIEPER

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Mrs. Zora (Eldon) Pieper, 89, a former resident of 910 13th St., Charles City, died Friday (Oct. 19, 2001) at the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

A funeral mass for Zora Pieper will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Rev. Stanley Hayek will celebrate the mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The St. Anthony Circle will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. and there will be a vigil scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Wednesday one hour before the mass.

Zora Alice Keefer Pieper was born July 28, 1912, at Vinton, the daughter of John and Cynthia (Stewart) Keefer. She graduated from the Vinton High School.

On Oct. 3, 1936, she was united in marriage to Eldon Pieper at Vinton. Eldon died on Feb. 2, 1965. Zora and Eldon moved to Charles City in 1936, where he was an engineer at the Oliver Corporation. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anthony Circle, and had served as the PTA president at the Immaculate Conception School. As an avid golfer she was a member of the Wildwood Golf Club and had been the club's champion for three years. Zora enjoyed being with her family and also playing bridge.

Living family members include three sons and their wives, Greg and Rosie and Bob and Toni, all of Charles City, and Jim and Jackie, of Clear Lake; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne Keefer, of Mathis, Texas.

Her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
