MRS. MARIE (JESSE) WRIGHT

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Mrs. Marie (Jesse) Wright, 84, a resident of 506 North Joslin St., Charles City, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral for Marie Wright will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with the Rev. Diane Mitchell, associate pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, and the Rev. James Slye officiating. Burial will be in Howardville Cemetery, rural Floyd.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Wednesday until service time.

Bertha Marie Noling Colson Wright was born Feb. 18, 1917, at Taylorville, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Bertha (Beerman) Noling. She graduated from the Charles City High School in 1935.

In September 1945 she married Ansel Colson. Ansel died on June 25, 1947. On Dec. 25, 1947 Marie was united in marriage to Jesse Wright at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Jesse died Sept. 15, 1997. She worked at Salsbury Laboratories from 1942-1948. Marie had been a 4-H leader, a member of the Farm Bureau Women, Wesleyan Women's Fellowship, Charles City Twisters Square Dance Club, Heritage Club, and the Senior Citizens Center in which she had held all of the offices and of which she was president when the new building was planned, funded, and built in 1984-1985. In 1996 Marie received the Elderbridge Agency on Aging Area II Outstanding Senior Citizen Award. Marie enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and going to the Senior Citizens Center.

Living family members include two daughters, Karen and husband, Jon Tisor, of Mason City and Marie Sherman, of Denver, Iowa; a son, Gerald and wife, Lois Wright, of Floyd; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Mervin and Mildred Noling, Charles City and Richard and Lorene Noling, of Maple Lake, Minn.; and a sister, June Roberts, of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a great-grandson, Joey Sherman; a brother, Eldon Noling, and two sisters, Josephine Coen and Ruby Lear.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Charles City Senior Citizens Center.
