ALLEN A. PERCY

NORA SPRINGS - Allen A. Percy, 77, of 806 First St. S.W., Nora Springs, died Tuesday (Oct. 9, 2001) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Richard Pippert of the United Methodist Church of Nora Springs officiating. Inurnment will follow at Park Cemetery in Nora Springs. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. According to Mr. Percy's wishes, his body has been cremated.

Memorials may be directed to the Allen A. Percy Memorial Fund.

Allen was born Sept. 22, 1924, the son of Frank and Florence (Freese) Percy. He was united in marriage to Marcella Jeffries on Nov. 4, 1945, in Minnesota. They lived in Nashua before moving to Nora Springs. Allen and wife were self-employed for more than 35 years and were members of the First Christian Church in Nora Springs. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting toy trucks and cars, and spending time with his dog, Lady.

Allen is survived by his son, Dennis Percy and his wife, Jackie, of The Dalles, Oregon; a daughter, Corliss Mathers and her husband, Dennis, of Nora Springs; three grandchildren, Tracy Lowe of Nora Springs, Todd Mathers and his wife, Teresa, of Clear Lake, and Tana Mathers of Nora Springs, three great-grandchildren, Abby and Jade of Nora Springs, and Jacob of Clear Lake; his mother, Florence Percy of Mason City; a sister, Lorraine Coen and her husband, Dale, of Mason City; a brother, Raymond Percy of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella, and his father, Frank.
