ROBERT 'STUFFY' D. STUFFLEBEAM

ROCKFORD, IOWA - Robert "Stuffy" D. Stufflebeam, 64, of 307 First Ave. N.W. in Rockford, died Tuesday (Sept. 18, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St. S.W. in Rockford with the Rev. Marjorie Bradshaw officiating. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Fullerton Funeral Home, 302 W. Main in Rockford. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

On July 21, 1937, Robert was born to Darwin and Ruth (Hart) Stufflebeam in Waverly. At the early age of three, he and his family moved to Rockford where he attended the Rockford School District. In 1999 he retired from TerEx.

"Stuffy" was a man that enjoyed the natural beauty in life. He could be frequently found searching for fossils in the Rockford pits. Every year on Labor Day weekend he'd venture off to the seven- mile corner where the Steam Engine Show was held.

"Stuffy" was always willing to offer a helping hand, no matter what the request was. From being a reserve for the sheriff's department or being the handy man. No job was too big to figure out, especially when it was mechanical. "Stuffy" left footprints in the hearts that he touched. To his nieces and nephews it was being a great man and uncle.

Robert will be greatly missed by his two brothers, Tom Stufflebeam and his wife, Marian, of Rockford, and Jerry Stufflebeam, of Marble Rock; four nieces, Lisa Cifranik and her husband, Mike, of Cleveland, Ohio, Julie Navratil, of Marble Rock, Janet Cassmann and her husband, Bruce, of Rockford, and Becky Brierly, of Marble Rock; two nephews, Jason Stufflebeam and his wife, Kelly, of Osceola, and Thomas Stufflebeam Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Elgin, Okla., and many great nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents.

Fullerton Funeral Homes, (641) 756-3311.
