Roy Richard Krambeer was born August 19, 1915 in Rudd, Iowa, the son of William and Gertrude (Ellis) Krambeer. He died Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Roy's family moved to Greene, Iowa when he was a teenager. During his first fall season in Greene, Roy helped Albert Barth with the harvest. Then he serviced cars for Harry Barth at his garage on the west bank of the Shell Rock River. Soon he learned to drive Barth's semi trucks, hauling draft horses to lumber mills in New England, livestock to Chicago and St. Paul, and during World War II, helped relocate families to other cities for defense work. These experiences inspired Roy to tell many good stories.

On July 4, 1936, he was united in marriage to Elsie Irene Teeple at her parents' home in Greene, Iowa. They also made their home in Greene. In 1945, Roy began work for Bathke Oil (later B & H Oil), hauling fuel in Iowa and Minnesota. In 1957, Roy and Elsie moved to Mason City, Iowa to be closer to the Williams Pipeline. He continued to drive for B & H until 1965, when he transferred to Ruan Transport Company, with whom he worked until his retirement in 1975.

Following Elsie's death in June of 1993, Roy returned to Greene to make his home. He was a member of the Teamster's Union. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Greene. Roy enjoyed reading, fishing, woodworking and watching the birds. He loved caring for his dogs and enjoyed the companionship they offered.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elsie; three sisters, Lettie May Bell, Dottie Schweizer, Goldie Kensrue, and one brother, Donald Ellis Krambeer.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Krambeer of Austin, Minnesota; four sisters-in-law: Arlene (Teeple) Wedeking of Clarksville, Iowa, who made her home with Roy and Elsie during her teen years, Catherine Teeple of Greene, Iowa, Merna Teeple, also of Greene, Helen Teeple of Charles City, Iowa, Wilma Witzel, also of Charles City; one brother-in-law, Neal Wedeking of Clarksville, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
