NORA SPRINGS - Duane E. Craig, 43, of 115 Second St. N.W., Nora Springs, died Wednesday (May 16, 2001) from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 101 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Ruth Hansen officiating. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs.

Memorials may be directed to the Duane Craig Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 281, Nora Springs, Iowa 50458.

Duane was born June 26, 1957, in Mason City, the son of Richard and Donna (Piper) Craig. He attended Mason City High School and later graduated from Kirkwood College.

Duane was united in marriage to Sheila Jacobsen on June 27, 1987, in Nora Springs.

He worked as a mechanic at his home all of his life and has worked the past 14 years as a welder at Wesam Inc. in Floyd.

Duane enjoyed working with his tools, fixing and riding motorcycles and watching his kids play sports. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone.

Duane will be greatly missed by his wife, Sheila, of Nora Springs; four children, Damon and Derek Jacobsen and Dustin and Ashley Craig, all of Nora Springs; his father, Richard Craig and his wife, Eva, of Mason City; his mother, Donna Eggena, of Mason City, two grandmothers, Vivian Piper and Edna Faye Craig, both of Mason City; seven brothers and sisters, Barb and Lenny Peters, of Goodell, Randy Craig, of Hanlontown, Mary Craig, of Mason City, Ronda and Joseph "Shadow" Lorenz, of Illinois, Mike Craig, of Mason City, Tammie Estrada, of Belmond, and Penny Jindra and her husband, Rick, of Mason City; his mother-in-law, Donna Jacobsen, of Nora Springs; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his father, Fred Eggena; his son, Devin Craig; one nephew, Bryon; and two grandfathers, William Craig and Tip Piper.
