Floyd A. Wilson was born on January 4, 1907, on the family farm in Scott Township, a son of Alexander Wilson Sr. and Frances Anna (Miller) Wilson. He died on Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City.
Floyd received his education at the Scott Center School and as a young man started working on the family farm. When Floyd was 16, his father purchased a 1923 John Deere Model D Tractor which Floyd used throughout all the years of his farming until his 89th birthday. He took great pride in his tractor, which has appeared in several tractor collector publications. For many years, Floyd worked on and repaired tractors and cars for friends and neighbors.
He was united in marriage to Hilda Meta Schaefer on Dec. 15, 1937, in Klemme. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock.
Living family members include his son, Marvin "Doc" and his wife, Rana Wilson, of rural Rockford; a sister-in-law, Frances Swant, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Bob Wilson, of Conrad.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda, on Dec. 5, 1965; his parents; his twin sister, Florence Wilson; and two brothers, Alton and Cliff Wilson.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Floyd Wilson Memorial Fund in care of the family.
