Valerie J. Ennen, 44, of Forest City, Iowa, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, after a cancer battle.

Memorial services were held Thursday, January 3, 2002 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. Her body was cremated and burial was to be a private family service at Park Cemetery in Nora Springs at a later date.

Valerie Joy Ennen, the daughter of Arnold and Harriett (Thompson) Eng, was born April 18, 1957, at Mason City. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1975 and went on to earn a bacheor of arts degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, graduating summa cum laude with a double major in accounting and business administration.

After college she moved to the Twin Cities area where she worked as an intermediate auditor for the State of Minn. Valerie then moved to Forest City where she spent seven years as accounting supervisor for the Forest City Community Hospital. In 1993, she began working as a customer service specialist at C-Tech Systems in Forest City and later at Northern Trails AEA, where she was still employed at the time of her death.

In August of 1997, Valerie married Rex Ennen and they made their home in Forest City.

Valerie was a member of Immuanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City and a long-time member of the church choir.

She was a crossword "puzzler" and loved to travel with her husband.

She is survived by her husband, Rex of Forest City; daughter, Alicia Rozen at home; son, John Rozen and his wife, Ammie, of Corwith; her mother, Harriett Eng of Mason City; sister, Michele Eng of Mason City; stepson, Bret Ennen of Clear Lake; stepdaughter, Alyssa Ennen of Clear Lake; two grandchildren; many friends and pets.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold, September 23, 2001.
