Calvin W. Hoy, 95, of Charles City, died Monday afternoon, March 7, 2011, at the 9th St. Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Graveside services for Calvin Hoy will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Calvin Woodward Hoy was born September 28, 1915, in Charles City, the son of James N. and Kathrine (Herrold) Hoy. He attended school in Colwell. On October 30, 1937, he was united in marriage to Emma Elizabeth Royal and they later divorced. In March of 1945, he was united in marriage to Lila Audrey Billings in Austin, Minn. Calvin was employed for 30 years for George P. Smith Construction as a woodworker and 30 years at various construction jobs in Northern and Southern Iowa as a cement finisher. His interests included gardening, farmers market, hunting and fishing.

Living family members include his four daughters, Karol (John) Schlicher of Phoenix, Ariz., Judith Diane Mead of Lees Summit, Mo., Janette Rae (David) Payne of Elma and Jewell Hoy of Charles City; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Richard Calvin Hoy; two sisters, Lucinda Belknap and Rozella Osborn; and three brothers, Marvin, Donald and Bernard Hoy.
