ROBERT K. CHRISTENSEN

ROCKFORD - Robert K. Christensen, 53, of 101 8th S.W., Rockford, died Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 28, 2000) at Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School gym, with the Rev. Mark Culham of the Hanford Community Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Walker Graper Post 338 of Rockford.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 West Main St., Rockford. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until noon Friday at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Robert K. Christensen Memorial Fund.

Robert was born May 11, 1947, the son of Kenneth and Bernice (Vaverka) Christensen in Charles City. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 9, 1966, and served his country until being honorably discharged on May 28, 1968.

On June 12, 1971, Robert was united in marriage to Karen Trettin in Rockford. To this marriage were born three beautiful children who were the apple of his eye.

Robert started working as a custodian for Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community School District in 1973. He took great pride in his work of maintaining the school grounds.

Robert was an avid angler who enjoyed taking his boat to the local hot spot. He enjoyed going to school basketball games, working in the yard, and just relaxing in his Lazyboy watching his big-screen TV. Robert's most precious time was spent with children and wife.

Robert was a member of the Hanford Community Church.

Those thankful for having shared in Robert's life include his wife, Karen; two daughters, Katie and her husband, Scott Klipping, of Garner, and Kim Christensen, at home; son, Rob Christensen, at home; foreign exchange student, Dmitriy Pashenko, of Russia; his mother, Bernice Mullarky, of Floyd; three sisters, Pat Christensen, of Floyd, Cathy and her husband, Bill Johnson, of Des Moines, and Jeanine Dillon and her significant other, Jim Shay, of Cedar Rapids; one grandchild, Colby Klipping, of Garner; his father and mother-in-law, Edwin and Margaret Trettin, of Rockford; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Christensen was preceded in death by his great-grandparents; grandparents; father, Kenneth, in 1992; his stepfather, Irv Mullarky; and a half sister, Jeannette.
