MARY A. BEYER

MASON CITY - Mary A. Beyer, 93, of 843 Sixth St. S.W., died Sunday (Oct. 15, 2000) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 S. Pennsylvania, Mason City, with the Rev. Bill Poland officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City. Visitation will resume one hour before the service at the church Tuesday.

Mary A. Beyer was born March 21, 1907, in Floyd, the daughter of Milo W. and Emma (Perrin) Raymond. She graduated from Floyd High School and Hamilton School of Business in Mason City.

On March 21, 1931, she was united in marriage with Arthur L. Beyer in Jesup. They lived on a farm near Manly until moving to Mason City in 1955. She joined Wesley United Methodist Church at that time and became active in women's circles as well as teaching Sunday school for several years. In 1965 she went to work in Central Supply at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital. She retired in 1972.

Mary was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, church circles and Church Women United. She volunteered at the information desk at North Iowa Medical Center for more than 3000 hours. Mary liked knitting and tatting. She especially enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Mary is survived by two sons, Raymond Beyer and his wife, Lois, Belmond, and Roger Beyer and his wife, Nina, Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Jean Carman, Nevada; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Viola Rae Lee, Inglewood, Calif.; and sisters-in-law, Helen Christensen, Mason City, and Selma Beyer, Northwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Donald, Floyd and Kenneth; a sister, Darlene; and a son-in-law, Everett Carman.
