CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Frances Darlene Scoles, 79, of Charles City, and formerly of Nashua, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

She was born on July 20, 1931, daughter of Irving and Bertha Wendt Nehls. She married Richard Scoles on January 5, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died in 2006.

She received her education in Charles City and was a certified nurse's aide. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Julie) Scoles and Richard Scoles, both of Nashua; three daughters: Margie Dutka of Fredericksburg, Debra Tonn of Nashua, and Jackie (Bill) Wadey of Greene; two sisters, Jean Moore of California and Carol Downing of Charles City; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Nehls and Robert Nehls; a grandson in infancy; and a son-in-law, Michael Tonn.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Nashua. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
