DES MOINES, IOWA — Dorothy Bach, 102, of Des Moines, and formerly of Marble Rock, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Taylor House in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 15, at the Basilica of St. John Catholic Church. Burial followed at the Glendale Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Marble Rock on March 7, 1908, to Arthur and Rachel (Shaefer) Sheets. She married Frank Bach in 1945 and they moved to Des Moines where they owned and operated Frank and Dots Restaurant. Ten years later she left the restaurant business for a 9 to 5 job working for the State of Iowa. Dorothy worked in the Titles Department and worked her way up to title supervisor over the years. After retiring at the age of 67, she started her career with Avon, which continued for the next 30 years.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Darlene Fini, of Des Moines; son Chuck (Janis) Bach, of Ankeny; nephew, Keith (Fran) Oldham, of Charles City; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H.; brother, Ray Sheets; sister, Stella Oldham; and son Thomas Bach.
