Floyd County Dies
After 10 Weeks' Illness

Last rites for Chester A. "Chet" Stoner, 78, were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Sept. 23, in the Sheckler funeral home. Mr. Stoner succumbed at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, following a ten weeks' illness with heart trouble, aggravated by a dropsical condition.

The Rev. C. Dana Boggie, pastor of the Methodist church, had charge of the services, and interment was in Rock Grove cemetery, south of Nora Springs. Serving as pall bearers were Morton Davis, Ed Matthews, Walter Schultz, Henry Hasselhop, W. C. Batdorf and Lillard Nicholas. Mrs. O.L. Hansen sang two hymns, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. K. S. Shanks. The floral arrangements were made by Mrs. K. Z. Nicholas, Mrs. Jay Bishop and Mrs. C.H. Boeck.

Chester Aim Stoner was born in Floyd, Iowa, on September 11, 1866. While was a young man the family moved to Nora Springs,where he spent the greater part of his life except for a brief time in Colorado.

He was engaged in farming up to the time of his
retirement and then moved to Nora Springs. His wife, Addie Brown Stoner, preceded him in death in 1927. Soon after their marriage they united with the Christian church.

Much of his later life was spent near his brother, Clarence, who tenderly cared for him in his last illness.

He is survived by his brother, Clarence C. Stoner, and a nephew, Cecil C. Stoner of Stockton, California, and several cousins, nephews and nieces.
