THELMA R. PAULUS

CHARLES CITY - Thelma R. (Mrs. Frank) Paulus, 96, a former resident of 105 Hawkins Ave., Charles City, died Wednesday morning (May 12, 1999) at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage.

A funeral Mass for Thelma Paulus will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with a Sacred Heart Circle and the Lay Carmelite reciting the Rosary at 3 p.m. and a Vigil Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Thelma Ruth Hanson Paulus was born Nov. 23, 1902, at Bakersfield, Calif., the daughter of Joseph and Cassie (Mosier) Hanson. She graduated from Rockford High School and taught rural school. On June 28, 1922, she and Frank Paulus were married at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, the Sacred Heart Circle, the Lay Carmelite, the Women's Relief Corps, the Charles City Women's Club, the Friday Bridge Club and the Royal Neighbors.

Living family members include two daughters and their spouses, Eileen and Emil Zimmerman of Lansing, and Dorothy and Maurice Lines of Marble Rock; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Paulus, of Lone Grove, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank, in 1978; a son, Donald; son-in-law, Dean Heffron; a brother, Harry Hanson; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Charles City.
