Frank Krause, 92 Retired
Farmer, Dies In MarylandFrank A. Krause, retired farmer of Portland Township, died early Tuesday at Port Deposit, Md. He was spending the winter there with his daughter, Mrs. Arthur MacArthur, having gone there by plane in December.
Mr. Krause underwent two serious operations one week apart. He had been in good health previously.
Mr. Krause was born on January 7, 1863, near Helenville, Wisconsin. He came to Iowa with his parents, John and Carolyn (Ladwig) Krause in the spring of 1866, when he was three. They stopped at Cedar Falls, the nearest railroad station,and then came the rest of the distance by team. He had lived in Section 16 of Portland Township 89 years.
He was married to Elizabeth Freese of Helenville, Wis. May 15, 1890. They had six children.
Surviving are a son, Elmer W. Krause, Nora Springs, and three daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Jessie) Hughes, Mason City; Mrs. Arthur (Bernice) MacArthur, Port Deposit, Md., and Mrs. Curtis L. (Marie) Mendelson, New York, City. Two brothers, George W. Krause, Rapid City, South Dakota, and Ernest M. Krause, Hettinger, North Dakota; a sister, Ella Clausen, Grand Island, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife in October 1947, by a daughter, C. Aurelia in 1932, and a son, Franklin, at the age of 2 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Nora Springs of which he was a member. The Rev. W.F. Ellerbeck will officate. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Rites Held at
Nora SpringsNORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Funeral services for Frank A. Krause, 92, who died Tuesday at Harford Memorial Hospital in Haver de Grace, Md., were held at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Nora Springs. The Rev. W.F. Ellerbeck officiated.
Mrs. Leslie Kraft was soloist; Mrs. Floyd E. Yaggy, organist. Mrs. Eugene Wamstad and Mrs. Arnold Valkman were in charge of flowers. Pallbearers were Selby Russel, Paul Spotts, Floyd E. Yaggy, Paul Calahan, Ben Emmert and Henry Gruben.
Attending the services from a distance were a brother, Ernest Krause and daughter, Muriel Rose, Hettinger N.D., nieces and nephew, Elizabeth, Esther and Herman Freese,Le Suer, Minn.
Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Banker and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Milbrandt, Blue Earth, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Olson, Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Don Huinke, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Lloyd Krause, Waverly; Royal Krause, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Urban Breecher, La Porte; Mr.and Mrs. Joe Prescott, Adams, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bartlett, LeRoy, Minn.
Burial was at Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. The Sheckler Funeral Home, Nora Springs, was in charge.
