SERVICES HELD
HERE FOR MRS.
LIZZE STRAUBE

Long-time Resident
Of Nora Springs Dies
May 1 In Nebraska

Mrs. Lizzie Christina Straube, 81, died Friday, May 1, at Norfolk, Nebraska, and was brought back to Nora Springs, her former home, for burial. Funeral services were held Monday, May 4, at 2 p.m., in the Sheckler funeral home, with the Rev. Amedee Fredette, pastor of the Lutheran church, conducting the rites.

Burial was in Park cemetery, with the following men serving as pall bearers: Arnold Eng, Robert Straube, Glen Straube, Lyle Hilmer, Stanley Bigelow and Forest Bell. Mrs. Roy W. Kraupa, accompanined at the piano by Mrs. Carl Crowell, sang "No Night There" and "God Will Take Care of You."

Mrs. Straube, nee Lizzie Hartzog, was born April 20, 1872, in Beaver Dam, Wiscconsin, daughter of Henry and Mina Hartzog. Her parents were members of the Lutheran church and she was baptized in infancy. She moved with her parents to Nora Springs when she was five years old.

She was married to Robert Straube of Nora Springs in Mason City on December 23, 1890, and four children were born to them: Arthur Straube of Nora Springs, who preceded her in death in 1948; Mrs. Mary (Nellie) Adams, Bellevie, Nebraska; Mrs. Herman (Ida) Eng of Nora Springs, and Marie, who preceded her in death in 1912.

Most of her years were spent as a resident of this locality, living on a farm north of Nora Springs from the time of her marriage until 1922, when she and her husband moved to town. This was her home until 1948, when she went to live with her daughter in Nebraska.

She died Friday in Norfolk, following a heart attack. Her husband had preceded her in death on April 27, 1926; as did her son, Arthur; her daughter, Marie; and a great grandchild, Linda Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Straube. Three brothers, John, Henry and Louis Hartzog, also preceded her in death.

Remaining to mourn are two daughters; Mrs. Harry Adams of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Mrs. Herman Eng of Nora Springs, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Arthur (Lyrie) Straube of Charles City; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
