Former Resident Of
Nora Springs Dies
In New Jersey, Jan.30

John Allen Wiley, 78, died about 3 p.m. Saturday, January 30 at Ridgewood, N.J., after a short illness. The body was brought back to Nora Springs, and rites were conducted here at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, February 2, at the Sheckler funeral home. The Rev. J. Ellis Webb, pastor of the Methodist church, had charge of the services. Interment was in Rock Grove cemetery, south of Nora Springs.

Casker bearers were J. W. Kennedy, Earl Mosier, E. C. Moody, C. D. Moody, T. B. O'Brien and R. L. Bellows. Music was by Mrs. J. Ellis Webb.

Mr. Wiley, son of Allen and Mariah Wiley, was born January 16, 1876, at Conrad. He was united in marriage November 24, 1989, to Ethel E. Allis at Nora Springs, where they resided until 1926, moving from Nora Springs to Mason City.

Four children were born to the couple, one of whom died in infancy. The three surviving children are Paul D. Wiley of Davenport, Earl W. Wiley of Ridgewood, N. J., and Mrs. Katherine Smith of Humboldt.

Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by his wife in March, 1948; and also by his parents, five sisters and one brother.

In addition of his children, he is survived by six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Given of Bemidji, Minn. and Mrs. Nora Rolston of Conrad; and one brother, Vern I. Wiley of Conrad.
