NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Junior G. Waters, 83, of Plymouth, died Tuesday (Dec. 7, 2010) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Alan Berneman of First Christian Church, Hampton, officiating. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth, Iowa.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 9, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Junior G. Waters Memorial Fund in care of the family.

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Junior G. Waters, 83, of Plymouth died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at First Christian Church, 318 N. Adams Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Alan Berneman of First Christian Church, Hampton, officiating. Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth.

Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Junior G. Waters Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Junior Gale Waters was born July 1, 1927, in Rock Grove Township, the son of Frank and Mary (Stiller) Waters. He attended schools in Nora Springs graduating in 1945. He was married to Donna Hibner; they later divorced. After graduating he worked on a farm, at Decker's and also had a small appliance repair business.

He was married to Loretta Cummings in 1972 in Joliet, Illinois. He went to work in 1972 for the Mason City Schools as a custodian and school bus driver and retired in 1988.

Junior had a love of music and could play many musical instruments; he formed a one-man band and would often perform at nursing homes and various places. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and listening to bluegrass music. He was a member of the First Christian Church and also the local Teamsters Union. He loved the time he spent with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Junior is survived by his wife, Loretta (Lorie) of Plymouth; children, Gloria (Roger) Steiff of Forest City, Mike (Nancy) Waters of Ames, Julie (Steve) Shickell of Ames, Angela Waters of Mason City, Mark (Oretta) Waters of Manly, and Dan Waters of Manly; daughter-in-law, Wendy Waters; grandchildren, Christy, Annette, Lisa, Lisa, Coleman, Kenzie, Trisha, Hannah, Cayla, and Carter; several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildern; brother, Charley (Ruth) Waters of Nora Springs; brother-in-laws, Jim Hibner, Mike (Sue) Anderson, Mark Andersen, Eric (Carol) Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clayton Waters, Richard Eli Waters, Cora Hibner and sister-in-laws Betty and Gladys Waters; and one grandson, Travis Waters.
