CHARLES CITY - Jennie A. (Mrs. Guy) Lines, 71, of Salsbury Baptist Home and formerly of rural Charles City, died Friday (March 3, 2000) at the nursing home.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert Streets, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag and the Rev. Mark A. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt Street, Charles City. The family will be present to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Visitation will continue from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jennie Lines, the former Jennie Augusta Joesting, was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Rockford, the daughter of August and Annabelle (Tumilson) Joesting. She attended school in Rockford and graduated from Rockford Consolidated High School. She continued to reside in Rockford before moving to Marble Rock to reside there for three years, and then to Colwell for a year.

On October 15, 1954, in Rockford, Jennie was united in marriage to Guy E. Lines. The couple made their home on the family farm south and east of Charles City that same year. Mr. Lines died at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Des Moines on April 18, 1976.

Jennie was employed at the former Birdsall Ice Cream Store in the Cedar Mall in Charles City and the Bassett Café in Bassett. For 17 years she was employed as a clerk at K-Mart Store in Charles City, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting afghans.

Living family members include a son and his wife, Steve and Pam Lines of Charles City; a daughter and her husband, Vickie and Dale Knutson of Centerville, S.D.; two sisters, Annabelle Meader and her husband, Merle, of Rockford, and Roberta Hanson of Sigourney; a brother and his wife, August Jr. and Josie Joesting, of Highland Village, Texas; and three grandchildren, Robert Lines, Shannon Knutson and Justin Knutson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mike Lines.

Those considering an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Gideons International or to Hospice of North Iowa, Charles City Satellite.
