MASON CITY, IOWA - Diane Marie Jamtgaard, 50, 13 N. York Ave., died on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, following a long battle with cancer.

A funeral Mass for Diane Jamtgaard will be celebrated at noon today at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, with Father Carl A. Ries officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Visitation was held Tuesday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with a scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Diane Marie Zeran Jamtgaard was born Nov. 2, 1950, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Marlys (Zeran) Arends. She was raised in Rockford and graduated from the Rudd Rockford Marble Rock Community High School in 1969. Diane continued her education and received her Associate of Arts Degree from the North Iowa Area Community College.

On January 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to Nicholas Lamoreux. The couple later divorced. She then was united in marriage on May 4, 1985, to Mike Jamtgaard. The couple later divorced.

Diane worked for the A.C. Nielsen Company in Mason City for two years following her graduation from NIACC. After her first marriage, Diane became employed at the former Iowa State Liquor Store in Clear Lake. She then went to work at the Sperry Corporation in Clear Lake for 10 years.

Following Sperry's closing, Diane returned to college and earned a BA degree in accounting from Buena Vista University. Diane then worked at Minnesota Rubber for one year. For the past five and a half years, Diane was the office manager at the Odd Fellows Retirement Home in Mason City.

Diane was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to movies, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and family members. She was also noted in her family for her love of chocolate.

Those thankful for sharing Diane's life include her three children, Nicole Lamoreux and her friend, David Hurst, of Mason City, Patrick Lamoreux and his wife, Danielle, of Fort Stewart, Ga., and Joseph Jamtgaard of Mason City; her father, John Arends of Rockford; four sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Terry Young of Manly, Joan and Brian Hendrikson of Clear Lake, Jean and Jim Ackermann of Blaine, Minn., and Karen and Jerry Schlader of Rockford; two brothers, John Arends and his wife, Rochelle, of Rockford and Keith Arends and his friend, Monica Breaux, of Mesquite, Texas; four grandchildren, Leah Fistler, Lyndsey Hurst, Tracie-Lynn Lamoreux and Joshua Pruim, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Diane is preceded in death by her mother, Marlys, who died Aug. 25, 1999, her grandparents who were instrumental in her upbringing, Mildred and Russell Zeran, and two nephews.
