RONALD EUGENE JURASEK
NORA SPRINGS - Ronald Eugene Jurasek, 67, died (Feb. 9, 2001) at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nora Springs with Pastor Ruth Hansen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs.
Ronald was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Mason City, the son of Frank and Frances (Martykan) Jurasek. Ronald received his education in Mason City, graduating from Mason City High School in 1951.
He served with the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1955 when he returned to Mason City following his discharge. He then began working for Decker Meat-Packing Company and later for Armour Foods Company.
On Dec. 29, 1956, Ronald was united in marriage with Joanne Van Riper at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City.
Ron collected antiques and enjoyed attending many auctions throughout the area. He also enjoyed fishing and trapping and was an original member of the Iowa Trappers Association.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Joanne, at the family home; one daughter, Joan Ronda (Robert) Prevete of Plainview, N.Y.; one brother, Jerry (Viola) Jurasek of Mason City; one grandson, Robert Paul Prevete of Plainview, N.Y.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Delbert and Verlaine Spurgeon of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; two aunts; one uncle; three nieces; one nephew; and two cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.
