MASON CITY, IOWA - Dale W. Grady, 79, of 1507 S. Wilson Ave., died Sunday (May 12, 1996) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 670 12th Street N.E., with the Rev. Donald Main officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call until 11 a.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church. The family requests memorials be made to the Dale W. Grady Memorial Fund.

Dale W. Grady was born July 31, 1916, the son of Harry L. and Minnie (White) Grady in Rockford. Dale attended School in rural Rockford and lived at Rockford until he was 20 years old.

Dale came to Mason City in 1936 and married Renelda A. George on July 3, 1936, in Mason City.

Dale worked for Jacob E. Decker & Sons Packing Plant until he served during World War II in the U.S. Air Force.

Upon returning home from the service, he worked for Cadwell Storage and then later owned and operated Grady Wallwashing and Painting Business for 45 years, retiring earlier this year.

Dale was an avid stock car fan and raced cars of his own. He also enjoyed caring for his yard. Dale was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Renelda Grady of Mason City; two sons, Martin Grady and wife, Faye, of Mason City, and Ted Grady and wife, Marie, of Mason City; six grandchildren, Kathy Arnold and Debbie Pumphrey, both of Mason City; Becky Baack of Clear Lake; Martin Dean Grady of Dinuba, Calif.; Scott Grady of Cedar Rapids, and Sara Curtis of Mason City; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Candice, Benjamin, Derek, Cristian, Samuel and Sonya; one sister, Lura Havey and husband, Dick, of Nora Springs; several nieces and nephews.
