FREDA LENA STALHEIM

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Freda Lena Stalheim, 70, of 806 W. Congress, Nora Springs, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church, 1148 Fourth St. S.E., Mason City, with the Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside [Memory Gardens] Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. led by Rev. Joseph Mirowski of the Greek Orthodox Church of Transfiguration. Further visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Freda L. Stalheim Memorial Fund.

Freda L. Stalheim was born on October 23, 1929, near Nashua, daughter of August and Lena (Huber) Oleson. She was united in marriage to Kenneth A. Stalheim on December 13, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Freda was a past member of Wigwam and Wagon and Good Sams. She enjoyed 35 years of camping and traveled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico with her husband and family. Freda enjoyed word puzzles and playing cards. She also enjoyed Senior Citizens and dancing.

Freda was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose for many years and later the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Freda was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Mason City.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Stalheim, of Nora Springs; three sons, Marlen Stalheim, of Ames, Lyle Stalheim and his wife, Connie, of Muscatine and Roger L. Stalheim and his wife, Karen, of Winterset; two daughters, Darlys Vlantes and her husband, Nick, of Mason City and Connie Morrison and her husband, Mitch, of Hampton; 14 grandchildren, Jenny and Terri of Ames, Phillip, Nathan and Conrad of Muscatine, Amy Livingston and her husband, Jason, of West Des Moines, Eric of Winterset, Nicole of Rochester, Minn., Christina and Travis of Mason City, Melissa and Lindsay of Hampton, Johnathan of Minneapolis, Minn., and Todd of Maryville, Mo.; two brothers, Albert Oleson of Evansdale and Robert Oleson of Charles City; five sisters, Marie Fritcher of Plainfield, Gertrude Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz., Grace Woodman of Nashua, Ardith Goings of Nashua, and Janet Barnhart of Greene; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Terry; her parents; and three brothers, Andrew, Carl and Harold Oleson.
