ROBERT ARTHUR HANSEN

SUMNER, Wash. - Robert Arthur Hansen, 77, of Sumner, Wash., died Nov. 2, 1999, in Puyallup, Wash.

He was born on a farm in Rockford on June 27, 1922, to Fred and Clara Hansen, and was one of four children. He married Marjorie Alitz in 1943. Born to this union was their daughter, Debra and son, Scott.

After graduating from the University of Iowa School of Forestry, he began a long career with the Weyerhaeuser Company, beginning in Longview, Wash. He advanced to various positions throughout his 35-year career, retiring from the corporate headquarters' Timberlands Group in 1985.

He was a member of the American Society of Forestry, the Linden Golf Course, United Methodist Church and served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

The passing of a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend will be mourned by many.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Debra (Don) Walls; son, Scott (Rae); grandchildren, Dana (Dave) Warner, Beau and Adam; sisters, Virginia Jones and Georgia Johnson. He considered Dale, Julie and Kelsey Burghardt as part of his immediate family.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Puyallup United Methodist Church, 1919 West Pioneer.

Memorials may be made in his name to the American Stroke Association, Tacoma, Wash.
