NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Mr. Harold L. Santee, 94, of 165 S. Hooker, Nora Springs, Iowa, died Friday (March 5, 1999) at his home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, 1999, at the United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Curtis DeLong of the Church of Nazarene, Mason City, Iowa officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs, Iowa.

The family suggests memorials to the Harold L. Santee Memorial Fund.

Harold was born January 4, 1905, in Phoenix, Illinois, the son of Henry Martin and Mildred Viola (Fries) Santee. He moved with his family to the Rockwell City, Iowa area where he attended school.

He married Fae Bailey June 29, 1931, in Sac City, Iowa. They farmed in the Humboldt area until 1938. They then moved to rural Nora Springs, Iowa where they continued to farm. In 1947, they moved into Nora Springs. He worked for Percy Construction in Mason City until his retirement in 1959.

Harold enjoyed raising rabbits, gardening, growing flowers, fishing, being around his family and especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, Iowa.

Harold is survived by four children, Neal Santee and his wife, Rose, Mason City, Iowa; LaVonne Holmes, Davenport, Iowa; Gerald Santee and his wife, Linda, Nora Springs, Iowa and Gordon Santee and his wife, Yvonne, Rockford, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Kinney, Melbourne, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1991, daughter, Darlene Hofler, in 1979 and nine brothers and sisters.
