BETTY LUCILLE FULLERTON

ROCKFORD, IOWA - Betty Lucille Fullerton, 73, of 405 1st Ave. N.W., Rockford, died early Tuesday morning (June 15, 1999) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church in Rockford. Officiating will be Rev. Rosemary Rohde-Frank. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.

Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. today at the Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 301 West Main, Rockford.

Betty was born one of four children to Murel and Ivis (Yerkes) Brallier in Rockford, on July 6, 1925. She spent a great portion of her life in Rockford, graduating from the Rockford High School in 1942.

She then worked as a house mother in Ames at a Fraternity. Following her mother's death, she returned to Rockford to help her father and brothers. In 1944 she assembled airplane engines at the Alameda Air Station in Oakland, Calif., until the end of the war. She then returned to Rockford, where she worked for Jack Spratt grocery store and managed the Rockford Country Club for four years. Later she worked as an administrative assistant at Lynn Smith Insurance.

She was united in marriage to John N. "Jack" Fullerton on August 5, 1955, in Arlington, Neb. Following her husband's death, she moved in November of 1972 to Colorado Springs, where she was an administrative assistant to the president of Allied Ready Mix, and then worked in the accounting department at Colorado Springs Medical Center. She moved to Loveland, Colo., where she was a technician in the computer division of Hewlett Packard, retiring in 1986 and moving back to Rockford in February 1987.

She was a baptized member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockford. She was the family historian and lovingly kept the history in organized scrapbooks. Her love of history carried her into spending innumerable hours with the Rockford Historical Society, working at the railroad depot and the historical building on Main Street filling many capacities when and where needed. She also collected and refinished antiques and was an avid reader of biographies and history.

She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She also was the author of several poems and short stories.

Those thankful in sharing Betty's life include her one son, Gregory L. and his wife, Debi Braun; five grandchildren, Amanda, Natalie, Megan, Olive, and Nicholas, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, Wayne "Tony" and his wife, Gladys Brallier, of Nora Springs; Gary and his wife, Marlene Brallier, of Rockford; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Brallier, of Pasadena, Calif.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 1967; her parents, and one brother, Dale Brallier.
