NORA SPRINGS - Evelyn M. Altman, 94, of 907 West Congress, Nora Springs, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs, where she was a resident patient since 2003.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 101 North Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with the Rev. Dr. Jennifer Edinger officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.
Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Luke Lutheran Church, Nora Springs or to the Evelyn Altman Memorial in care of Frank Altman, Box 371, Nora Springs, Iowa 50458.

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Evelyn M. Altman, 94, of 907 West Congress, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs, where she was a resident patient since 2003.

Evelyn Margaret Holt was born on Sept. 4, 1916, in Rolfe, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Daisy (Behrendt) Holt. She graduated from Mason City High School. She was united in marriage to Ralph Treloar on Sept. 4, 1937. To this union four children were born. They farmed in the Nora Springs area until Ralph's death in 1956.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Frank H. Altman on Aug. 1, 1963, in Nora Springs and continued to reside in Nora Springs. Evelyn worked at Damon's in Mason City for several years until she acquired her job at the First State Bank where she worked as a bank teller for 25 years until her retirement.Evelyn loved making her ceramics, decorating the bank each month and for different seasons. She loved fixing lavish meals for her family and traveling with her husband. Evelyn was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Nora Springs, Rebecca Lodge and Card and Bridge club. She taught Sunday school and volunteered at the city for political polls until her illness.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Frank Altman, Nora Springs, children Jerry (Deloris) Treloar, Edmond, Oklahoma, Carolyn Moore, Mason City, Arlene "Porky" (Larry) Dodd and Joetta (Jim) Kelley, all of Waterloo, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Frances (John) Evenson, Northfield, Minn.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph Treloar, and sister Bertha Graves, two sons-in-law, Bruce Paine and Kenneth Moore.
