CHARLES CITY — Gordon L. Cooney, 56, of 700 Clinton Street, died Thursday (May 28, 1998) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley Hayek officiating. Inurnment will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City. Military rites will be performed by Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service.

Gordon L. Cooney was born Dec. 8, 1941, at Lawler.

He is survived by his mother, Lorna, and his stepfather, Donald Potratz, of Charles City; one son, Richard Cooney, Osage; two daughters, Karen Wilkinson, Oceanview, Del., and Suzanne Condon, New Haven, Iowa; a brother Roger Cooney, Maple Grove; a sister, Willa Brasel, Hampton; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, one son, and twin grandsons.
