NORA SPRINGS - Lulu M. Daily, 92, of 215 Spring Drive died Sunday, (Sept. 12, 2010), at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the First United Methodist Church, 202 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. Visitation will be held Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Lulu Daily Memorial in care of Les Daily, 215 Spring Drive, Nora Springs, IA 50458.

Lulu Mary Johnson was born Jan. 16, 1918, near Brownsdale, Minn., the daughter of Melvin Ulysses Johnson and Katherina Anna Long Johnson. In 1918, she moved with her family to a farm north of Mason City. In 1922, the family moved to the farm west of Nora Springs.

She was joined in marriage to Loris Bishop Daily on May 1, 1939, at the farm home of her parents. She has lived at 215 Spring Drive, Nora Springs, since her marriage.

Lulu attended country schools and then graduated from Nora Springs High School in May 1935. She was baptized and joined the Presbyterian Church in Mason City at an early age and then transferred to the United Methodist Church, Nora Springs, in 1946, also with her family. She was an active member of this church since then, serving as president of the WSCS, Sunday school teacher and on multiple committees.

She also was an active member in the American Legion Auxiliary Post 449, serving as president, vice president, county president and secretary-treasurer. She served as president of the PTO while her children were in school.

During her lifetime she worked in business for many years, also as the secretary-treasurer of Nora Springs School, and secretary-treasurer of Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

She is survived by her two children, Gwendolyn Ann Daily Minshall and Leslie Vern Daily; two grandchildren, Katherine Marie Minshall Womack and Jeffrey Alan Minshall; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Alan Minshall and Aaron Judah Womack; along with other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Wayne Allen, brothers Glen and Lynn, sister Ethel, and half brother, Clarence.
