James Burnett

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — James Burnett, 85, of Charles City, died Monday (July 6, 1998) at the Ninth Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag, pastor of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.

James Burnett was born on December 1, 1912, at Charles City.

Survivors include one daughter, Sondra Knapp, of Marion; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; his extended family, Rebbecca Oksendahl; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
