CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Loretta (Mrs. Henry) Essman, 83, of South Cedar Terrace, died Tuesday (Feb. 24, 1998) at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Hampton.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with a parish vigil scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services.

Loretta Elizabeth Blocker Essman was born March 25, 1914, at New Hampton, Iowa.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Vestal, Waterloo; one son, James Essman, of Roanoke, Texas; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, four brothers and five sisters.
