Mrs. Sarah Gutches
Sara M. Billings, daughter of James and Jane Billings was born near Beloit, Wisconsin, February 14, 1854, and died at Hudson, Colorado, at 4 a.m., May 1, 1936.
St the age of eleven she moved with her parents to Parkersburg, Iowa, where she resided until her marriage to William Gutches in 1872. At that time they moved to Floyd County, where they lived on a farm until 1886, when they moved to Osage.
Four children were born to this union - Jennie, now Mrs. Henry Moeller, Hudson, Colorado; Mrs. Ethel Lambkin, who passed away February 28, 1936; LeRoy, Osage, Iowa, and Florence, now Mrs. Robert W. Daniels, of Los Angeles, California.
After her husband's death in September, 1924, Mrs. Gutches went to Hudson, Colorado, where she made her home with Mrs. Moeller except for four winters, which she spent in California.
Preceding her marriage Mrs. Gutches taught school. For many years and up until her death she was a member of the Eastern Star and held membership in the Osage chapter.
Besides her children she is survived by her sister, Mrs. Alice Conklin, of Oldham, South Dakota, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the Hudson Methodist Church on May 4, conducted by the Reverend A. C. Braynt and the Champion Funeral Home in Osage, May 1, conducted by the Reverend Lessly.
