Thomas D. Meighan, 76, of Charles City, died Sunday, August 8, 2010, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Thomas Meighan will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Monsignor Stanley Hayek of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City. The family will greet friends at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Thomas Duane Meighan was born March 5, 1934, in Chickasaw County, the son of Thomas and Eunice (Barrett) Meighan. He received his education at New Hampton. Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy. On October 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to Nora Ann Logan. Thomas worked for many years in the foundry at Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. His interests included camping and watching NASCAR. He always looked forward to spending time with his family especially Friday evenings which was board game night.

Living family members include three children, Diane (Rob Osterkamp) Kapping of Sioux Falls, S.D., Teri (Stacy) Osterkamp of Charles City and Jamie (Chaun) Meighan of Charles City; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Joannie) Meighan of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three sisters, Dorothy Meineke of Charles City, Bev Nikolas of Osage and Connie Kinsel of Evansdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on December 10, 1991; a grandson, Jason Kapping; a brother, Roger Meighan; and a sister, Betty Barrett.
