BOY DROWNS AT CITY

Hayward Fisher, Aged 12,
Perishes in the Cedar
at 2:30 This Afternoon.

Charles City, Aug. 11. — Hayward Fisher, the 12-year-old son of Frank Fisher, of the Fisher- Stevens Furniture Co., was drowned at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon in the Cedar River opposite the Chautauqua Park here. He was in swimming with two companions of his own age and either was seized with a cramp or got into water beyond his depth.

One of his companions, in attempting to rescue him, was drawn under twice and narrowly escaped with his own life. The river is being dragged now in an endeavor to recover the body.

The water is high, which makes finding the body more difficult.
