Ed Towner Died
Last Friday Evening

Edward J. Towner was born near Charles City, Floyd County, Iowa, on December 3, 1864. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Towner, were pioneers of Floyd County. Mr. Towner grew to manhood on the old home farm.

He was married to Phebe Crawford, October 30, 1890. Two children were born to this union, Donald W., who died in his 14th year, and Lois, who survives her father.

The family home was on the farm until 1909, where Mr. and Mrs. Towner moved to Osage. After five years here, they moved to Northfield, Minnesota, where they lived for nearly five years. They then moved back to Osage where they have resided since.

Mr. Towner was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America for a number of years. He was a faithful attendant of the Methodist Church and the Brotherhood Bible class.

He is survived by his wife and daughter, and one brother, Fred H., of Floyd County, and one sister, Mrs. Cora McCammond, of Charles City; and an aged aunt, Mrs. Mary Crawford.

In all the communities where he lived, "Ed" was widely known and highly respected for his sterling character and adherence to principles. He passed to his reward at 5:30 o'clock on the evening of June 13, at the home, 821 Chestnut Street. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and business associates. He had been in failing health for about a year, but was compelled to relinquish his work only about two and a half months ago.

The funeral services were conducted by Reverend Sylvester E. Ellis, pastor of the Methodist Church at the Shelledy Funeral Home. The interment was at Orchard Cemetery.
