Dianne Lynn Draeger

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS — Dianne Lynn Draeger, 39, the daughter of Vernon and Donna Draeger of Rockford, died suddenly on Monday (Dec. 14, 1998) at the University of Chicago Hospital of acute leukemia (APL).

A private memorial service will be held Tuesday at First Wesleyan Church, Charles City, Iowa, with her brother-in-law, the Rev. Kent Hedlund, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Dianne was born on Aug. 9, 1959, in Charles City.

She graduated from Rockford Senior High in 1977, then went on to receive her A.A. in secretarial science from Bartlesville Wesleyan College (Okla.) in 1979. During the next 10 years she was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company and various other businesses as an executive secretary.

In 1990, Dianne decided to pursue a career in museum studies with a minor in anthropology. In 1994, she graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A., continuing on to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, for her masters degree in 1996. From there, she moved to Chicago to work in The Field Museum as a collections management assistant.

Living family members include her parents, Vernon and Donna Draeger, of Rockford; a sister, Dorothy and husband, Kent Hedlund, of St. Louis, along with her nephews, Will, Andrew, Phillip and Joel.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
