FORMER CHARLES CITY RESIDENTS DIE

Drowned in Yuma, Ariz.

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Edward Parker, 31, and his son, Terry Lee, 10, were drowned while fishing- at Yuma, Arizona, Saturday. Parker tried to rescue his son after he had fallen into the water and both were drowned.

The boy's body was recovered Saturday night and Parker's body was found late Monday afternoon. Parker attended the Charles City High School and lived at Bassett until moving to Waterloo in 1944. The family had lived in Yuma about three weeks.

Funeral services were held in Ajo, Arizona, Friday morning. Parker is the son of Mrs. Arle Parker, Cedar Falls. He was married to Edna Schelick, Waterloo, October 5, 1946, at Nashua.

Surviving are his wife, his parents, and a daughter, Pamela, 9; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Earbiner, and Nancy Parker, and two brothers, William and Richard Parker, all of Cedar Falls.
