CHARLES CITY - Norine M. Wicklund, 81, a resident of 1106 Ellis Drive, died peacefully at home on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 22, 2000.

A funeral Mass for Norine Wicklund will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with the Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Evergreen Park, Ill.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 South Main St., Charles City, from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, where the family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be a vigil scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon at the funeral home and Tuesday afternoon at the church one hour prior to the Mass.

Memorials may be directed to the Immaculate Conception School or Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Norine M. Shinnick Wicklund was born Oct. 30, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of John J. and Mary V. Shinnick. She attended St. Gabriels Catholic Grammar School and Laretto High School in Chicago. Before marriage she worked as a bookkeeper.

On June 2, 1945, she married Arvid John Wicklund in Miami, Fla. After the war, they made their home in Chicago, where she concentrated on being a wife and a mother. Later she returned to various bookkeeping positions until retiring from McDonald's Corporation in 1981 to move to Charles City to help with raising her grandchildren. She was active in the Charles City Senior Citizens, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Lay Carmelites, St. Anthony's Circle and the Charles City Women's Club. She loved sports, talking and visiting with friends, and participating in the lives of her grandchildren.

Living family members include two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Sam) Soifer of Charles City, and Jo Ann (Mrs. Dave) Robinson of Fonthill, Ont., Canada; two sons, John Wicklund of Romeoville, Ill., and Bill and his wife, Pat Wicklund, of Naperville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Scott, Shawn and Regina Soifer and Matt, Jessica and Eric Wicklund.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1975; a son, James Raymond; a daughter, Mary Beth; three unnamed children; two brothers, Bernie and Jack; and a sister, Mary.
