CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Elnora M. Paulson, 94, of Charles City, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Floyd County Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St., in Charles City with the Rev. David Werges officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sunday, June 6, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., in Charles City and again one hour prior to the service at the church. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Elnora was born on April 19, 1916, in Geneva, Minn., the daughter of Elmer and Ida (Carlson) Larson. She graduated from Aitkin High School in Minnesota and took courses at the University of Minnesota, Iowa State University and North Iowa Area Community College.

She was united in marriage to Ben Villnow on Oct. 20, 1935, in Hector, Minn. Ben died in 1959.
She was then united in marriage to George Paulson on July 15, 1961, in Plato, Minn. George died in 2006.

Elnora was the postmaster in Plato for several years before moving to Charles City, Iowa, where she worked at 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home as a dietary supervisor. She retired in 1981.

Elnora was very involved in the communities she lived in. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and active in the church circle. She was a life member of the Floyd County Museum, a thirty-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she served as district president for a year, chairman of Veteran's Affairs for eight years, and held several offices in the North Iowa Quilter's Guild. Elnora has been active in 4-H, both as a member and club leader. She served as the chairman for six years in the Minnesota Farm Bureau Women and on the Extension Board. She also volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Robert (Kathy) Villnow; step-son, Raymond (Diann) Paulson; sister, Mardella Kuzek; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ben and George; daughter, Corinne Schauer; son-in-law, Gerald Schauer; daughter-in-law, Anita Villnow; and brother, Alvin Larson.
