Obituary:

RUDD, IOWA – George L. “Roy” Tegtmeier, 79, of Rudd, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Nora Spring Care Center, due to a fast moving cancer glioblastoma. Memorial services will be held, 10:30 A.M. June 5, 2010, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, with Rev. Kenneth Gehling officiating. Memorials may be directed to the George “Roy” Tegtmeier memorial fund in care of the family.

George L. Tegtmeier, the son of the late George R. and Emma (Hesse) Tegtmeier, was born on October 15, 1930, in Shell Rock, Iowa. George was employed by Cole Excavating out of Greene, Iowa. Roy enjoyed his family, work, and building and flying radio controlled model airplanes.

Survivors include his former wife: Pam Tegtmeier of Mason City, along with their two sons: Benjamin Roy Tegtmeier and Patrick David Tegtmeier, both of Mason City. Roy is also survived by his brothers: Irvin (Liz) Tegtmeier of Marble Rock, Paul (Maxine) Tegtmeier of Rockford; sisters: Lois (Kenny) Fisher of Marble Rock, Jeanie “Thelma” (Dave) Nixt of Greene, Janice (Ken) Beznoska of Rudd, Marie Nordman of Mason City; sister-in-law: Marla Tegtmeier of Marble Rock, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He will be sadly missed by his extended family: Sandra Losee of Parkersburg, Iowa, Gary Schwab of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Deb and Tom Francis of Scottsdale, Arizona, Gary and Jean Schwab of Mason City, Iowa, Mike and Debbie Schwab of Glenview, Illinois, Jan and John Swinton of Nora Springs, Jeni and Daniel Sloan of Nevada, Iowa, Jessica and Terry Reams of Parkersburg, David Schwab of Loveland, Colorado, and all of their families.

George was preceded in death by his parents, and by his youngest brother, Alan Tegtmeier.

We never ended a conversation without say “I love you” and we never ended an argument without saying “I’m sorry.” That leaves only one thing to say, Thank you for being our dad.
